Making It All Worthwhile

The National Children's Fun Book is distributed nationally to Children's Wards in hospitals and various other institutions.  It is only due to the interest of all thethank-you-bear.gif Organisations involved that  this book can be provided to help distract children during their stay and help to put a little bit of sunshine into a period which can oftentimes be dull. We have taken this opportunity to reflect some of the comments received from a few of those who make practical use of the material on a daily basis.

I thought you might like some feedback. The tracing paper and crosswords plus word searches are popular with the older patients whilst the younger ones enjoy colouring and the food lorry. Please pass on our appreciation to the sponsors and thanks again from all on Alice Ward.

RJ & AH Orthopaedic Hospital

We cannot thank you enough for the supplies. We don't think we can wait for the next book. The children are already tucking into them (and the play staff enjoy them too!!). We have a wide variety of children of all ages and abilities and this book is suitable for all.

Morriston Hospital, Swansea

We have many children who come to our A&E dept. with a variety of illnesses and injuries. These books have been extremely popular ... and the puzzles and colouring-in keep them occupied for hours (and teenagers too!). We are extremely grateful to receive the NCFB.

Royal Berkshire & Battle NHS Trust

These books are fantastic and the children love them!! ... They are really popular and now our regulars ask for them so I think it's safe to say they are thoroughly enjoyed by children and parents alike!!!  The quality is fantastic and well known characters loved by the children.

The Friarage Hospital Northallerton

I wanted to convey our thanks from the Child Protection Department...The Fun Books are an invaluable ice-breaker and help to distract young children from the unpleasant reason of why they might be at a police station. In the case of children who have siblings or need to return to our suite, they often ask for the books, such is their popularity...

Family Protection Unit West Midlands Police

I have just received the Fun Book - once again, a huge Thank You to all of the Sponsors who continue to keep our children occupied in a positive and effective way. The book, as usual, is very much in demand with the children (and some staff!) and certainly helps our staff enormously.

The Lewisham Hospital

Thank you for the Spring Fun Book 2008...We think that the cover is the best yet...we also love the "Little Princess". The Fun Book is packed with wonderful puzzles, pictures and competitions for all age ranges. The Fun Book also teaches children about important issues such as nutrition and safety in a fun and exciting way. Thank you so much for providing us with this great distraction and for your continued care and support.

GOSH at the North Middlesex University Hospital

We have now settled into our new hospital so lots more children have been able to enjoy the puzzles and colouring. As usual the books have been very well received by the children who have been very busy with all the different activities. The fun book always has a good mix of safety and information, quizzes/colouring with popular book/TV characters represented. A special thanks to the Sponsors for supporting such a great concept.

Oxford Radcliffe Hospital

The books have such a wide variety of things to do including great puzzles, colouring and important information that gives the opportunity for the children to learn in a fun way. The tracing paper is fantastic as always! Thery are a very valuable resource to us and we very much appreciate your continuing to keep us supplied with them. The children are finding them great fun.

Lister Hospital, Stevenage

Many thanks for the Spring 2008 Fun Book. The children are putting them to good use and, as usual, the books seem to keep children across the age span occupied for quite some time! We also use the books as a distraction tool during procedures (which can be uncomfortable) and so we find the publication invaluable.

Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospital
